Thoughts from Espotel Test day 2016

We organized a morning seminar in our premises in the beginning of March with the topic “production testing and efficient production ramp-up”.  Many things have happened in the field of production testing lately, both in tools and technology as in best practices. We though that this would be a good opportunity share experiences and learn from each other.

The agenda of the day was the following:

 8:30  Breakfast is served
9:00  Opening words, Tero Leppänen, Espotel
9:05  WATS: commissioning and benefits, Jani Angervuo, KONE
9:35  The benefits of standardization in production testing, Jonas Strandell, ABB Drives
10:00 Successful production ramp-up, Reijo Kalenius, Scanfil EMS
10:15 New ATX MMI test fixtures, Armin Lindner, ATX Hardware GmbH
10:40 Transition from PXI to PXIe, Teppo Myllys, National Instruments
11:00 Free discussion and product exhibit: ATX, NI, WATS, Procket

Based on the presentations from Jani Angervuo and Jonas Strandell a conclusion could be made that standardization of tools and technology is how you control the cost and schedule of production testing projects. Critcical for success is also creating a uniform way of working across all sites and factories within.

Reijo Kalenius from Scanfil promoted the importance of cooperation and planning when ramping up production for a new product.

ATX Hardware GmbH presented their new MMI test fixtures MMI fixture was published in Productronica trade fair in Munich last November. MMI was now presented first time in Finland.

Teppo Myllys from National Instruments compared PXI and PXIe platforms and presented how to utilize those platforms.

Thank you to all the presenters and everybody attending the seminar. Hope to see you all next time again!
